Golf Solitaire is a captivating and strategic card game that is played solo. The objective is to remove as many cards as possible from the tableau to achieve the lowest score, akin to the sport of golf where lower scores are better. The game starts with a tableau of seven columns, each with five cards, all facing up. The remaining cards form the draw pile.
The gameplay involves flipping the top card of the draw pile to start the discard pile. You then remove cards from the tableau in ascending or descending order, regardless of suit. For example, if a 5 is on the discard pile, one can place a 4 or a 6 on it. Aces are both high and low, allowing players to place a King or a 2 on them. The round ends when no more cards can be moved to the discard pile or the draw pile is exhausted. Scoring is simple: one point for each card left on the tableau.
